Rani getting into films..



TV anchor-turned-serial actress Archana, who shot to fame with Asianet's popular Malayalam serial ‘Ente Manasaputhri’ (aired in Tamil as ‘Maha Rani’ through Vijay TV), is debuting in films. The actress will handle a meaty role as Rani in director S. Kishore's Malayalam film Kochi. Comedian, anchor and hero Jagadheesh will be the villain. The cast also includes Meera Vasudevan, Chandru, Kishore and Tamil star Nasser. Scripted by the director himself, Kochi is produced by Giri under the banner of Star Talkies.

Vijay TV’s spiritual fest is back



After many successful seasons, Vijay TV’s Bhakthi Thiruvizha is back in its eighth season. The five-day spiritual fest which began on March 16 at Chennai’s Narada Gana Sabha, will see scholars and singers present discourses and music performances. This festival was inaugurated by Swami Gnanananda Saraswathi on 16 March. The programmes are as follows:

On March 18, at 5 p.m., Sindhuja will render Upanyasam on ‘Pandurangan Magimai’. At 6 p.m., Upanyasam on ‘Thirumagal Thiruarul’ will be by Ananthapadmanabachariyar. At 7 p.m., it will be time for songs on Lord Murugan by Pushpa Anand. At 7.45 p.m., . Karunakarachariyar talk on ’Manathirukku Iniyasinam.’

On March 19, 5 p.m., 7-year-old Varsha Buvaneswari will present Upanyasam on Parvathi Kalyanam. At 6 p.m., Dhaamal Perundevi will present a discourse on on ‘Kothaiyum Govindanum.’ At 7 p.m., Kadayanallur Tukaram Ganapathi Maharaj will sing abhangs.

On March 20, 5 p.m., Upanyasam on ‘Sundarakaandam’ will be given by Dushyanth Sridhar. At 6 p.m., Isaiyum Uraiyum ‘Guruvaiyurukku Vaarungal’ by Damal Ramakrishnan and Smitha Madhav will be presented. At 7.30 p.m., Desa Mangayarkarasi will render Upanyasam on ‘Valli Devayanai.’

Special prasadam from various temples will be offered to the audience on all the days.
